Personal Trainers Struggle Too - Know You're Not Alone!

As personal trainers, we often feel the pressure to have perfect bodies and lead an active lifestyle. We’re supposed to be an example for our clients, right? Well, here’s a little secret that no one talks about – personal trainers struggle with health and fitness goals too! I want to share why this is the case and how to get over the hump so you can reach your desired level of fitness.

Motivation Woes

Let’s face it – motivation isn’t easy. It takes discipline and hard work. That’s where most of us fall short. Even though I’m a personal trainer, sometimes I just don't feel like doing my own workout routine or eating healthy foods. But, that doesn’t mean I should give up on my goals! When I find myself slipping off my routine, I look for ways to stay motivated.

Here are some tricks I use when motivation wanes:

  • Set realistic goals – if your goal is too unrealistic, you will not stay motivated long enough to complete it. Break down your bigger goals into smaller ones that are achievable in the near term; this way you can measure your progress more easily and stay on track toward achieving your ultimate goal.

  • Reward yourself – setting up rewards along the way helps keep me motivated throughout my journey towards reaching my fitness goals. For example, when I’m sticking with my workout and nutrition plan, I reward myself with something simple like a massage or a nice dinner out with friends. This gives me something to look forward to while also giving me a pat on the back for all of my hard work!

  • Find an accountability partner – having someone there who holds you accountable for reaching your goals can make all the difference when it comes to staying motivated on those days when you just don't feel like going through with it alone. Having an accountability partner also means sharing your wins and losses so you can learn from each other's experiences and help motivate one another along the way!

Staying fit isn't always easy – even for personal trainers who are used to being active all day! To ensure success in reaching our health and fitness goals, we need to set realistic expectations and reward ourselves along the way so we don't lose sight of why we started in the first place. Additionally, having an accountability partner helps us stay focused on our goals by providing support when motivation starts waning.

So remember…you're not alone in this journey!

You got this!
